Potential of small biodigesters for electricity production

Julián Vargas Talavera, thesis, Uganda and Bolivia

This research project, carried out by Innovation Sciences graduate student Julián Vargas Talavera, focuses on identifying the potential of biodigesters as a sustainable source of off-grid electricity production in Uganda and Bolivia. The fieldwork for this project was carried out with support from FACT Foundation, a Dutch NGO which promotes the use of biodigesters in developing countries. The analysis of data gathered through fieldwork in both Uganda and Bolivia shows that, in order to promote technology adoption, it is important to tailor a technology to local needs instead of previously defined design constraints.
